A Firm Built Around the People Who Need It Most
Payung Restu was founded with a clear purpose: to stand alongside those navigating pension concerns in Malaysia, offering a steady and considerate presence throughout.
Back to HomeOur Story
Payung Restu was established in Shah Alam, Selangor in 2014 by a small group of legal practitioners who had noticed a pattern in their work: many Malaysians were receiving letters from pension funds or statutory bodies that they did not fully understand, and they had no one to turn to for a calm, plain-language explanation of what it meant.
The firm was formed to fill that gap. The name — which translates loosely to "sheltering blessing" — reflects the intention behind the work. Not to rush clients through a process, but to offer them a dependable, sheltered space in which to consider their position without added pressure.
Over the years, Payung Restu has assisted clients across Selangor and the wider Klang Valley with a range of pension matters: from clarifying confusing paperwork in a single session, to managing ongoing correspondence with pension authorities, to providing full assistance and formal representation where the situation called for it.
We work with clients who are retired, approaching retirement, or managing the pension affairs of a family member. Each situation is treated as its own, and we make no assumptions about what someone already knows or what they may need. Our role is to listen first, then to help — at whatever pace suits the person in front of us.
Our Mission
To make pension legal matters accessible and understandable for every Malaysian who needs help — providing clarity, consideration, and capable support at every stage.
Our Vision
A Malaysia where no person has to face a pension concern alone, without access to clear information and respectful professional assistance.
Our Values
Patience, clarity, and respect. We believe that the way a service is delivered matters as much as the service itself, particularly when the subject is sensitive.
The People Behind Payung Restu
Our team is small by design. We prefer depth of care over breadth of volume — each member works closely with clients rather than handling cases at arm's length.
Ahmad Hafizuddin
Principal Legal Adviser
Called to the Malaysian Bar in 2009, Ahmad has focused on pension and employment-related legal matters since 2013. He leads guidance sessions and formal representation work.
Norizan Rahimah
Correspondence & Client Support
Norizan manages the firm's correspondence work and client communications, ensuring every letter sent on a client's behalf is accurate, respectful, and clearly worded.
Zulaikha Ibrahim
Case Coordinator
Zulaikha oversees case documentation and scheduling, keeping each client's matter organised and making sure nothing is missed as it progresses.
How We Work
Our professional standards are the quiet architecture behind every client interaction. They are not written for show — they shape how we behave on ordinary days.
Client Confidentiality
Every matter is handled under strict professional confidentiality. We do not discuss client situations outside what is required to advance the matter.
Malaysian Bar Compliance
Our legal work is conducted in accordance with the Legal Profession Act 1976 and the professional conduct rules of the Malaysian Bar.
Clear Fee Agreements
Fees are agreed before work begins. We do not add charges mid-process without your knowledge and prior discussion.
Plain Communication
We write and speak in language a non-specialist can understand. If we use a technical term, we explain it. No client should leave a meeting more confused than when they arrived.
Timely Updates
Clients are kept informed at each stage of their matter. We do not leave people waiting without explanation — a brief update is always sent if a matter is still in progress.
Data Protection
Personal and financial information is stored securely and handled in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). We retain only what is necessary.
Pension Legal Services in Shah Alam and Selangor
Payung Restu has developed a particular depth in pension protection matters specific to the Malaysian context — including matters relating to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), civil service pensions, and private pension fund correspondence. Many of our clients come to us after finding that standard avenues have not adequately addressed their concern, or that they need a knowledgeable party to step in and present their position with care.
Our office in Seksyen 14, Shah Alam is accessible from across the Klang Valley, including Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Klang, and central Kuala Lumpur. We also accommodate clients who find travel difficult by arranging telephone or video appointments where the nature of the matter allows it.
We do not take on large volumes of cases. This is a considered choice — it means each client receives proper attention from a practitioner who knows their matter, not from a rotating team of junior staff. When you contact Payung Restu, you will be speaking with someone who has read your documents and thought about your position before you arrive.
